Kitchen Design
My philosophy on designing kitchens is an improvement on the old ‘triangle’ method. Instead of organizing the kitchen into a 3 point system spreading out the sink, stove, and fridge, I find it better to design around a centralized work surface. One large work area should be supported by the sink, stove, fridge, storage, lighting, and most importantly guests. You can see this in the above design where you can imagine preparing a large meal on the central island with the sink, stove, fridge, and cabinet storage all within arm’s reach. Also the island has room for 4 stools and is open to the living and dining room where a large group of guests can gather and the chef can enjoy their company while preparing the feast. The layout of each drawer and shelf can be designed in 3D computer programs so you know exactly where the strainer will be to make this improved philosophy work for your personal cooking habits.
